Mcdonalds Drive Thru Singapore – Locations And Treats

Folks who own a vehicle are offered the ultimate convenience – getting your food through your car window at a Mcdonalds Drive Thru Singapore location. Not only do you not need to join the queue at a food stall in the sweltering weather or drive around the car park to look for a parking lot, you do not even need to leave your vehicle. A Mcdonalds Drive Thru is an absolute lifesaver when we only have a short lunch break in between meeting clients or on days when we have to shuttle our kids from one enrichment class to another.

During our busiest days of the week, the last things we want are having to bother ourselves with a supermarket run to gather the freshest ingredients and the aftermath of a home-cooked meal *cue images of a messy kitchen tabletop and a sink full of oily dishes*. After all, a simple meal is all it takes for us to fill our stomachs so we can hustle on without the risk of fainting from hunger. It would even be better to have a complete meal consisting of a main course, a side and a drink. A Mcdonalds extra value meal, albeit fast food, fits the bill. Besides, what is more pleasurable than sinking your teeth into a piping hot piece of thick, succulent chicken thigh as you savour a McSpicy burger before washing it down with a mouthful of refreshing, ice-cold coke?

Well, it is undeniable that many Singaporeans lead a hectic lifestyle, having to juggle work and family.  Perhaps this is why we have developed a penchant for hassle-free meals. You’ll pass through 3 points at a Mcdonalds Drive Thru:

For folks on their maiden Mcdonalds Drive Thru experience, here are some tips:

1. Be sure to be loud and clear when you place your order at the ordering point. There is usually noise from the traffic around so you might have to raise your voice a little for your order to be heard clearly by the staff.

5. A (Mc)Nugget Of History – How Drive Thrus Started

Thanks to the ingenuity of the brilliant minds behind the drive thru concept, we are able to get our meals in double-quick time. But have you ever wondered how the concept of a drive thru materialised?

The drive thru concept has a predecessor – the drive-in concept. In 1921, an eatery chain called The Pig Stand opened the first drive-in restaurant in Dallas, Texas. Diners would drive into the parking space and be promptly greeted by servers who took their orders. The diners would then wait in their vehicles while the servers brought them their food on trays that could be clipped onto the car windows. To ensure efficiency in their service, the servers usually covered the distances on roller skates.

Later in 1948, another restaurant called In-N-Out offered diners a similar dining experience which also did not require them to leave their vehicles. It was the first drive thru restaurant. Five cooks prepared takeaway meals behind glass panels for motorists, enticed by the advertising board promising ‘No Delay’. The tagline is truly aligned with the name In-N-Out.

McDonalds started out as a small business in 1948 in San Bernardino, California. It was the McDonalds brothers’ venture into the food business after suffering a setback in the movie business. Their novel ‘Speedee Service System’ revolutionised the food and beverage industry then. Food preparation was divided into individual tasks performed by different workers, much like in a factory assembly line. Glassware and dishes were replaced with paper cups, plates and bags to do away with the dishwasher. There were just 9 items on their menu. This system allowed McDonalds to serve food with speed and at lower costs.

However, it was not until the mid-1970s that the first McDonalds drive thru started. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, the system is even more sophisticated to ensure speed, accuracy and positive user experience. Preview boards, order screens, digital headsets and other technological equipment and gadgets are now all part and parcel of the drive thru business.
